Short bio

Influenced by the melancholy of Depeche Mode, the power of Type O Negative and the musicianship of Dream Theater, Envinity is a band that believes the key to great, emotional music is made up of just two things: a strong melody over a powerful chord pattern.

Long bio

Influenced by the melancholy of Depeche Mode, the power of Type O Negative and the musicianship of Dream Theater, Envinity is a band that believes the key to great, emotional music is made up of just two things: a strong melody over a powerful chord pattern. Seems very simple.

The band's first album,
Sweet Painful Reality, is a dark and melancholy goth rock album, that uses the simple philosophy of strong melody over a powerful chord pattern. The record received decent acclaim, including a very kind inclusion in one magazine's "10 best albums of 2002".

Envinity followed with
Empyreal Progeny, which moved into heavier, more aggressive territory than its predecessor, also incorporating elements of jazz, industrial, and scandinavian metal.

Their third album,
Moira's Lake, is a complex, over-the-top concept album with an old-fashioned ghost story and a suspenseful progressive metal soundtrack.

"I'm still very proud of what we accomplished on Moira", says songwriter Niko, "but if few people can really appreciate it, what's the point?" The point, the band believes, is to communicate experiences and emotions through art, and hopefully impact people's lives for the better. Easier said than done.

On their upcoming 4th album, Envinity is returning to the core of what they believe. The styles are again different, incorporating more electronic and pop influences, but through it all one thing stays the same –– their simple core philosophy that strong melodies over powerful chord patterns can create great, emotional music.
